Justin Kroll

Praised by the Miami Herald for his “penetrating tenor,” Justin Kroll is a focused singer who combines an exciting instrument with radiant musicality and an undeniable stage presence.
Justin is currently a Filstrup Resident Artist at Tulsa Opera where he recently performed the roles of Matt / Larry in Henry Mollicone’s The Face on the Barroom Floor. Other recent performances include appearances with Opera Idaho, as a 2022/2023 Emerging Artist in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Verdi’s Macbeth, and DvoÅ™ák’s Rusalka; Central City Opera, as a 2022 Bonfils-Stanton Apprentice Artist in Adam Guettel’s The Light in the Piazza, and Strauss’s Die Fledermaus; Geneva Light Opera in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Madison Opera in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Madison Symphony in Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Painted Sky Opera of Oklahoma City in Haydn’s La Canterina and Puccini’s Tosca.
Justin currently serves as Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera Workshop at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Anna Mandina

Hailed as a “true Puccini lyric soprano” by Opera News, Italian-American soprano, Anna Mandina, is quickly making a name for herself in the opera world. Anna recently performed the role of Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro and Susannah Polk in Susannah with Opera Fort Collins. Ms. Mandina has often worked with Sarasota Opera, making her mainstage debut in 2019 singing 13 performances as Liù in Turandot. Since then, Anna has performed many other roles with Sarasota Opera, including Mimì in La bohème and Zerlina in Don Giovanni to great acclaim. Anna has worked with many companies including Opera Maine and Opera Company of Middlebury, and she is thrilled to be back in her college hometown to work with Landlocked Opera as Adina in L’elisir d’amore.

Bass-Baritone Lloyd Reshard (he, him, his) Dulcamara makes his debut with Landlocked Opera. His 2023-24 opera season includes Angelotti in Opera Orlando's Tosca, Dr. Dulcamara in Davies’ Pinocchio with St. Pete Opera, Prince Gremin in Heartbeat Opera’s Eugene Onegin, and Amonasro in Union Avenue Opera’s concert version of Verdi’s Aida. Lloyd’s concert season included his debut with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra as guest soloist in the Sounds of the Spectrum concert, alongside Grammy-nominated tenor Lawrence Brownlee, Bass Soloist in their Handel’s Messiah, as well as baritone soloist in Master Chorale of South Florida’s Considering Matthew Shephard. With pianist and composer Lois Henry, Lloyd collaborated with Pensacola Symphony to perform works by Charles S. Brown on their outreach concert featuring African American Composers. Last year, Lloyd co-founded Inicio Musica, a Piano/Voice duo, with Lois, debuting their concert Between the Earth and Sky. Lloyd is also a collaborative lyricist with renowned Haitian-American composer Sydney Guillaume, including: Nou La, This Too Shall Pass, A Taste of Freedom, and, I Will Not Look Away. Mrs. King teaches voice at Missouri Southern State University, and collaborates with Heartland Opera Theatre as music and stage director.
Steven Tharp
Stage Director
Steven Tharp (Stage Director) has previously staged productions for the Manhattan School of Music’s Handel Project (Alcina, Ariodante) and for Bel Canto at Caramoor (Così fan Tutte, H.M.S. Pinafore, Pauline Viardot’s Cindrillon and Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix). He has previously appeared as tenor soloist with the Missouri Symphony in the Mozart Requiem and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Tharp, born in Springfield, Missouri, is Associate Professor of Voice at Mizzou. As an operatic and concert artist, he has appeared in dozens of venues worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Netherlands Opera, Houston Grand Opera, the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, Houston Symphony, Colorado Symphony, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 92nd Street Y, Carnegie’s Weill Hall, the Bard Festival, Caramoor, Newport Chamber Music Festival, Carmel Bach Festival, the New York Festival of Song and recital venues in Europe, Japan and South America.
Mr. Tharp has recorded for Decca, Delos, Newport, Albany, Centaur, and Naxos. His world-premiere recording of the complete songs of Edward MacDowell, accompanied by the late James Barbagallo, earned a Grammy Award nomination, and his recording of Frank Martin’s Le Vin Herbé was an “Editor’s Choice” in Opera News. Other recordings include Vaughan-Williams’ On Wenlock Edge with the Ciompi Quartet, Handel’s Messiah with the American Bach Soloists, Schubert’s Schwanengesang with Jan-Paul Grijpink, a collection of Fauré songs with Rachelle Jonck, and his most recent release, Schubert’s Winterreise with Janice Wenger.
This coming spring, Mr. Tharp will direct MU’s Show Me Opera in a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Yeomen of the Guard.
Rachelle Jonck
Vocal Coach
Rachelle Jonck is a vocal coach based in New York City. She specializes in the historic tradition of the bel canto style of singing. During the COVID-19 pandemic she established Bel Canto Boot Camp - now a non-profit organization striving to make high level teaching accessible to singers at all levels of development. BCBC’s signature course, The Vaccai Project, explores the bel canto style through the lens of the classic lessons of Vaccai. It sells worldwide through Amazon. Zachary Kierstead
Continuo/Young Artist Pianist
Zachary Kierstead is a pianist and vocal coach based in Columbia, Missouri. Grateful to be in a location with many wonderful musicians and musical opportunities, Mr. Kierstead enthusiastically brings high-quality collaboration to all level of musical individuals, educational and professional.
He is full-time Collaborative Pianist and Instructor of Piano at Central Methodist University. There he teaches piano classes and lessons, accompanies students in all capacities, and coaches the Opera Workshop.
With a passion for opera, Mr. Kierstead has recently held pianist/coach positions with several programs including: Opera in the Ozarks, Landlocked Opera, Opera Workshop at Central Methodist, and the Show-me Opera at Mizzou. Mr. Kierstead holds his Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri – Columbia and his Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Central Methodist University.

After 10 years as a professional stage manager, Heather transitioned into a career in special education, focusing on social, emotional, and behavioral health. A firm believer in the necessity of making the performing arts accessible, she continued to stage manage in community theater organizations. In Columbia, she works in the theater, live music, and burlesque communities as a stage manager, director, designer, and performer.
